• Vivienne Ryan

    Vivienne created the Personal Injury Law Show back in 2008 with the support of the then Partners of Nowicki Carbone, Harry Nowicki and Tony Carbone and has been co-producing the show ever since. A former lawyer with a love for educating the community about their legal rights, Vivienne is a regular ‘what’s in the news’ panelist, discussing what matters most in the community. Outside of the show Vivienne runs a successful media and marketing agency in South Melbourne, Gravia Media.

  • Don Maffia

    Don Maffia leads the Transport Accident Practice Group. He graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Laws and went on to gain experience in personal injuries matters, practicing throughout regional and metropolitan Victoria.

    Don’s main area of practice for the last 10 years has been in transport accident claims. He has expertise in litigating and fighting for clients including seeking Common Law Damages claims, Serious Injury Applications and Dependency Claims pursuant to the Wrongs Act. Don also has expertise in disputes against the TAC in relation to payments of benefits such as payment of medical expenses, wages and lump sum impairment benefits.

    Don is friendly, passionate about his work, results driven and places great importance on communication, both with his team and his clients, ensuring they are kept up to date throughout their claim.

    With his wealth of knowledge and experience, Don is a regular guest on the PI show educating the wider community about their rights in respect to transport accident claims.

    Outside of the office Don enjoys spending time with his family and supports both the Melbourne Victory and Blues teams.

  • Nunzio Tartaglia

    Nunzio Tartaglia leads the Insurance Practice Group. He graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws. Having commenced his legal career with Nowicki Carbone as an Articled Clerk he quickly developed a true passion for litigation.

    During his time at Nowicki Carbone Nunzio worked in the Damages Practice Group, gaining extensive experience in WorkCover, TAC and Public Liability litigation claims.

    Quite youthful in his legal career Nunzio turned his legal focus to Commercial and Insurance Litigation, where he worked for a mid tier Commercial Firm. It was during this time that Nunzio was able to truly appreciate litigation from both plaintiff and defendant sides.

    Nunzio returned to Nowicki Carbone and as a result of his commitment, drive and dedication was elevated to a Partner. Nunzio brings a blend of youthful exuberance, insight and initiative to the Partnership. He is a great role model for the young lawyers.

    Outside of work Nunzio enjoys playing golf, tennis, travelling and watching his beloved Bombers.

  • John Karantzis

    John Karantzis leads the WorkCover Compensation Practice Group. He has been accredited as a Specialist in Personal Injury Law by the Law Institute of Victoria and has expertise in WorkCover litigation including Serious Injury Applications and Common Law Damages claims for pain and suffering and economic loss.

    John is an experienced trial lawyer with expertise in investigating and prosecuting complex claims through negotiated settlement and trial. John has a long standing reputation for providing compassionate no-nonsense advice and obtaining outstanding results for victims of work place accidents.

    John’s career highlights include obtaining two Supreme Court of Victoria Jury verdicts both awarding in excess of $1 million in compensation for injuries sustained in the work place. In addition John obtained a County Court of Victoria Jury verdict of $250,000 for pain and suffering damages for his client who had broken both ankles in a fall at work.

    Outside of work, John enjoys playing tennis, travelling and supporting the Blues.

  • Tony Carbone

    Tony Carbone is the Managing Partner and co-founder of Nowicki Carbone and hosts the Firm’s PI Show. Having been in practice for almost three decades Tony has broad experience in the law. His particular expertise, passion and interest has always been in personal injury litigation.

    Tony’s most characteristic qualities are his energy and positivity. He brings these qualities to his clients and staff. He facilitates a dynamic and team-oriented approach to resolving claims.

    Tony is actively involved in the management and leadership of the Firm. His incredible enthusiasm and drive would require no less when bringing a claim to Nowicki Carbone. A client can expect to interact with Tony and benefit from his expertise.

    Tony is also an integral part of the legal liaison group that meets quarterly to discuss TAC policy issues.

    Tony’s impressive client following is a testament to his technical expertise and excellence in client service and results.

    Outside of work, Tony is a true family man and passionate supporter of his beloved Hawks.
